Ted Failon has continuously criticized Mar for what he did or did not do in the aftermath of the storm.
Fact is, Mar helped him during the early days of Yolanda. Failon was able to call ABS-CBN because Mar lent him a satellite phone. This has never been reported by Failon.
According to one volunteer Facebook page:
Ted Failon and DTI Secretary Mar Roxas met right after the winds of Yolanda died down. The broadcast reporter never, ever mentions the encounter. That prompts one or two readers to chide him for this moral lapse. He also fails to tell people the secretary lent him a satellite phone, which enabled him to make his report to ABS-CBN. The secretary and his men had been doing clearing operation on the runway so that planes could land and on the roads to the airport so that relief goods could be brought unimpeded to typhoon victims. There is no purpose for the omission other than to deny the secretary the credit due him. For some reason, Failon is very critical of the secretary. In spite of that act of kindness, he hits him at every turn. He sneers at his accomplishments and carps about his supposed failures.
